I bought this bag a year or two ago on eBay – I loved it when I originally saw it in the J. Crew catalog but couldn't justify the price or need.  I found it on eBay, well worn and loved, but for around $15 so I snagged it!  I kind of love that it's worn in because I don't feel guilty using it as my concert bag – it makes a great crossbody and I don't care if it gets a little beer splashed on it.

So I returned to LOFT.  They had 40% off and I have been in desperate need of dresses for the hot, humid DC-area summers!  I didn't think this dress would be cute on, but then saw it on a woman on the street and she rocked it so I thought… maybe I can too!  Even in a Large Petite, I still found the dress to be too big, too long.  The neck was gaping, you could see my bra though the armholes.  I still wore it Sunday, just with a camisole but got sweaty and washed it according to the instructions (gentle wash, tumble dry low).  Well it caused the dress to shrink and now fit in the bust!  I did like the previous length better, but like having a dress I don't have to constantly adjust.  The dress is lovely with the self-belt, but I tried switching with the brown leather one for a more casual feel.

  1. I think removing a self-belt is the #1 way to make most dresses look classier. I wind up using the belts on other items, but almost never like them on their original garment!

  2. Their sizing has been so strange lately I had almost written off LOFT all together.  But then with the 40% off, I decided to give them a try.  My coworker has the same dress and she too said it didn’t fit right until it had been washed and dried.

  3. Interesting that the armholes are too large.  I am also a petite, and have the same problem with LOFT dresses, to the point that I simply don’t even try the sleeveless styles anymore.
