I work in two offices; one is more professional of attire, the other more casual. One I wear dresses and suits, the other I can get away with jeans and even sneakers on Fridays. When shopping for workwear, I look for pieces that can transition from the more dressy DC office to the business casual office in the suburbs; and from the casual office to the weekend.
This blazer came in one of my Dia&Co boxes and it's awesome. I wore it on my flight to the rewardStyle conference because it's stretchy ponte that's comfy yet looks polished. I've worn it over dresses, paired it with a pair of ponte trousers for a suit, but often wear it to the more casual office with jeans. While it's ponte, I still get it drycleaned so it maintains its shape and remains something polished enough for the DC office.
I just got this top from J. Crew (stay tuned, hits and misses post to come) and it's exactly what I love for this time of year. It's dressier than a simple tee, sleeveless but not exposing too much. I can wear it on its own or under a blazer; glam it up by pairing it with a maxi skirt or faux leather pants, or dress it down with jeans or a pair of shorts. It's on sale and when I got it, there was a promo code so this was cheaper than a meh tee from Tarjay!
And you all said I should check out Talbots for white jeans and ordered a few styles of them, as well as their pants. Spoiler alert, this is the only pair I kept. These are the Flawless Five Pocket Slim Ankle Jeans in the curvy fit and petite, and I think that description is misleading. I found them not slim considering the “sturdiness” of my legs, not petite in fit (they go up over my belly button) or in length (the website says 27″ but these are a hair over 28″). They're not really what I was looking for but if you ignore the name and pretend they're straight fit jeans in a regular length they're not half bad.

I don’t think this pictures accurately show how darn patootin’ cute this dress and outfit is! I usually don’t get so riled up, but this dress is very fun and cheap. Cheap makes it even cuter! I feel that it makes up for my fashion doldrums of late. Olive (far more green than it shows…
Navy stretch cotton v-neck sweater from Banana Republic, white stretch poplin trousers from Caslon (asked the dry cleaner to put a crease down the front to elongate the leg), white bead necklace from my Mom, silver cuff bracelet. Brown croco peep-toe heels from BCBGirls. Hair is second day, blown straight with a round brush while…

When writing this post, I could NOT get this jingle out of my head, but with the revised lyrics, “style like a pump, looks like a sneaker.” For it’s true, this spring sneakers have become THE hot shoe and their purpose goes way past the gym or tennis court. The street sneaker trend started last…
When this post goes live, I will be in Florida with the brand Chico’s. We’re celebrating the brand’s 35th anniversary and I am so honored to have been invited. Those heels are gorgeous and look so comfortable. I like this total look and can see it working both the business office with the casual one. I’m so in love with the ALLSAINTS bag that you seem to carry it with ease and style. The top is spectacular and I would definitely wear it during the summer months when casual wear is more acceptable. Most of time throughout the year, it’s business suits or black every day. The jeans look great and I wouldn’t be able to tell that they are not as fitted as you like. You still look poised and polished regardless.
Luv the Allsaints bag. I like white jeans in theory and I do have a pair that I need to wear at least once this Summer, but it’s so hard to keep them clean. http://www.ubetterwork.blogspot.com
Okay people have convinced me I need white pants, but I am having the WORST luck with finding some that don’t show my underwear because they are so thin. I’ll head to my Talbot’s and check it out.
The denim is pretty awesome. This is my first pair of white and in this cut, but not my first Talbots denim. I have a pair two years old that has been thrown in the washer and dryer tons of times and still are deep saturated, thick, looking new. I think they’re worth a look though best in person!
Allie – you look so cute in this outfit. Love it!

I also have Talbots jeans that are years old and still going strong. They style out before they wear out, so if you can find a fit, you’re golden. 🙂
These might be worth a try if you’re after a slimmer fit. Torrid has the best-fitting jeggings IMO, and these white ones are not see-through. I did have to size up one from my usual size for these, but otherwise they are super. http://www.torrid.com/product/torrid-jeggings—white-wash/10742251.html?cgid=jeans-jegging#prefn1=colorGroup&prefv1=WHITE&start=2
Thanks Danielle!
