My husband was to get up at 5am to go kayaking with a friend, and I was to wake at 6:30 to get to work on time. He woke at 5, saw that it was raining, reset the alarm and went back to sleep. He never turned the alarm back on, and we woke up with a start about ten minutes to 8, me needing to be at work at 8:30. I freaked out, but because I have reduced the size of my wardrobe only keeping what I LOVE, it makes it a heck of a lot easier to get dressed in a mad dash. I left the house at 8:07 and still had time for these pictures. So when you feel that you need more clothes because you have nothing to wear, stop and think about what it is that you are buying. Maybe it's about what's in your wardrobe and not how much!

Of course I spilled coffee on my shirt soon after arriving at work… my Tide to Go pen got 80% out but I still have a tiny tan spot on my chest. Guess that's the risk of wearing a freshly laundered and pressed white shirt!

  1. It’s a 16 petite when I am never more than a 14, there is a safety pin between the buttons at the bustline, and it has a heck of a lot of stretch. Even so, this is the only tailored shirt I own that I wear regularly. I have two stretch silk ones also from Ann Taylor that are also a size larger and petite, and if I lose some more weight, I have a few from Express from a few years ago of a very stretchy crepe-finish fabric that work well because of the fabric (and a safety pin or two)…

  2. Dilly, how do you find tailored shirts to fit? I’m (not especially but) averagely curvy, and I always find that either they strain across my boobs and look slutty, or they hang straight down from my chest and make me look much fatter than I am! Any advice?
